Saint Augustine's Anglican Church
FATHER RUSTY
Fr. Rusty holds dual-major Bachelor of Science degrees in Bible and Psychology from Manhattan Christian College and Kansas State University, a Master of Arts in Psychology and Personnel Services from Eastern New Mexico University, and the Doctor of Christian Counseling from Bethany Theological Seminary. He has 14 years experience as Choir Master and has composed numerous mass responsories and choral anthems, as well as music for small ensembles. He is licensed in the State of North Carolina as a Licensed Professional Counselor and is employed in the secular environment as a personal consultant to managers in industry. He is married and has two grown children.
Fr. Rusty has served as the Rector of St. Augustine's Anglican Church since June of 2005. He is a Professor of Pastoral Counseling at St. Andrew's Theological College and Seminary. He holds as his motto for pastoral ministry the simple yet profound words of St. Augustine of Hippo, "Every saint has a past, and every sinner has a future."
Fr. Rusty has served as the Rector of St. Augustine's Anglican Church since June of 2005. He is a Professor of Pastoral Counseling at St. Andrew's Theological College and Seminary. DEACON JAMES
Reverend Deacon James L. Ward is a deacon of the Orthodox Anglican Church (OAC). He serves with Father Rusty Marts at St. Augustine's Anglican Church in Bryson City, NC.
Deacon James has lived the majority of his life in Western North Carolina and currently resides in Bryson City, NC. He and his wife, Patty, have two daughters and six grandchildren. His is a graduate of Western Carolina University with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering His studies continued at St. Andrew's Theological College and Seminary towards priesthood. He was ordained to the diaconate at St. Augustine's Anglican church in November, 2007.
Over the years, Deacon James has ministered to God's people in many capacities. For years he served as a Sunday School teacher as well as Parish Senior and Junior Warden. Deacon James believes that all of his life's experiences have prepared him for service to his church.
